Overview

Sewer line repair, replacement and new installation

When every drain in the building is slow, fixtures gurgle when another one runs, or you smell sewage in the basement, the problem is usually not one fixture, it is the sewer line itself. Better Value handles sewer line clearing, spot repair, full replacement and new sewer installation for residential and commercial properties throughout the Muskoka and Simcoe County region.

We start with a camera inspection wherever possible. The camera shows whether the line is blocked with roots, sagging into a belly that holds water, cracked, offset at a joint or fully collapsed. That evidence decides everything downstream: a line with root intrusion can often be cleared and maintained, while a collapsed section needs excavation and replacement.

Sewer work is disruptive and expensive to do twice. Looking inside the pipe before digging means the excavation happens in the right spot, at the right length, once. For new construction and additions we install sewer connections sized and sloped correctly from the start.

Why it matters

Why sewer line is worth doing properly

Why sewer work should always start with a camera.

Dig once, in the right place

The camera locates the fault so excavation is targeted rather than exploratory.

Root intrusion identified

Mature trees near older clay or cast lines are a common cause here, and it is treatable.

Bellies and offsets found

Sags and misaligned joints explain backups that keep returning after every clearing.

Evidence for decisions

You see the footage before committing to a major repair.

Residential and commercial

House laterals through to larger commercial sewer connections.

New installations to code

Correct pipe size, bedding and slope for additions and new construction.

Questions

Sewer Line: questions & answers

What are the signs of a sewer line problem?+

Multiple slow drains at once, gurgling toilets, sewage odours, water backing up into the lowest fixture, or unusually lush or sunken patches in the yard above the line.

Can tree roots really break a sewer pipe?+

Roots find moisture at joints and small cracks, then expand. In older clay and cast iron lines root intrusion is one of the most common causes of failure in this area.

How much of the line has to be replaced?+

Only what the camera shows as failed, plus enough on either side to make a sound connection. Many jobs are a spot repair rather than a full replacement.

How long does a sewer replacement take?+

A typical residential spot repair is completed in a day. Full lateral replacements depend on length, depth and what is above the line.

Do you handle the excavation?+

Yes. We coordinate locates, excavation, the pipe work and backfill so you are dealing with one contractor.
