Overview

Emergency plumbing help when water will not wait

A burst supply line, a failed sump pump during spring melt or a frozen pipe in January can cause thousands of dollars of damage in the time it takes to find someone to call. Better Value handles emergency plumbing for homes, cottages and businesses throughout Muskoka and the Orillia area, and our office triages every urgent call so you know immediately what to do next.

The first few minutes matter more than most people realize. Our office will walk you through shutting off the main valve or isolating a fixture, tell you whether to cut power to a flooded area, and get a technician moving. Simple steps taken early often turn a catastrophic loss into a manageable repair.

Once on site, we stop the water, assess how far the damage has travelled, and complete a repair that will hold. Frozen and split lines, failed shut off valves, leaking water heaters, sewer backups, sump pump failures and no water calls on wells and lake draw systems are all common emergency work for our team.

Called about a problem at the cottage and they walked me through what to do on the phone before they even arrived. Excellent service.

Why it matters

Why emergency plumbing is worth doing properly

What a fast, competent emergency response protects.

Damage contained early

Getting the water stopped in the first minutes is the single biggest factor in what a flood ends up costing.

Phone triage first

Our office tells you what to shut off and what to avoid before the truck even arrives.

Freeze damage experience

Split lines, frozen wells and burst cottage plumbing are routine work here every winter.

Whole system knowledge

Wells, pumps, sumps and sewers: we are not stuck if the problem is not simple indoor plumbing.

Proper permanent repairs

The emergency fix is done to code, not patched with something you will pay for twice.

Insurance friendly records

We document what failed and what was done so your claim has the detail it needs.

How it works

How our emergency plumbing service works

Clear steps, no surprises, and a tidy work area when we leave.

01

Call or request service

Tell our office what is happening. We ask the right questions up front so the truck arrives with the parts and equipment the job is likely to need.

02

Book a visit

We schedule a window that works for you, including seasonal and cottage properties that need coordinated access.

03

Diagnose and explain

A licensed technician finds the real cause, shows you what they found, and explains your options in plain language before any work starts.

04

Fix it properly

We complete the repair or installation to code, test the system under real conditions, and leave the work area clean.

Questions

Emergency Plumbing: questions & answers

What counts as a plumbing emergency?+

Active flooding, a burst or frozen pipe, no water to the house, a sewage backup, a leaking water heater or anything actively damaging the building. When in doubt, call. We will tell you honestly whether it can wait.

What should I do before you arrive?+

Shut off the main water valve if you can reach it safely, or isolate the fixture. If water is near electrical panels or outlets, stay clear and shut off power at the breaker only if it is safe to do so.

Do you offer after hours emergency service?+

Our office is open Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm. After hours emergency service is available by phone, including weekends.

Do you handle frozen pipes at cottages?+

Yes. Frozen and split lines at seasonal properties are one of our most common winter calls across the lake communities.

Will you help with the insurance paperwork?+

We document the cause of loss and the repair work performed, which is normally what an insurer needs from the plumbing contractor.
